2016 Annual Meeting

Thanks to all of those who attended the annual Madison Park Community Council general meeting. Our regularly scheduled keynote speaker – Seattle Police Chief Kathleen O’Toole was called away by the mayor to participate in a Seattle vigil to honor the victims and survivors of the tragic mass shooting in Orlando.

We were honored to have Assistant Police Chief Robert “Bob” Merner and Lt. Kevin Grossman, East Precinct’s 2nd Watch Commander.

The audience included members from various segments of our community, ranging from parents (and students) of McGilvra to our senior residents of Park Shore.

We were posting live photos, comments and discussion points during the event, but you can review these posts via our MPCC Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/MadisonParkCommunityCouncil/

MPCC also elected new board members: Robert Sylvester and Alice Lanczos. Current interim board members Sharon Sack and Hunter Robbins were elected to official terms. Albert Olson was elected to a second 3-year term on the council.

New officers will be appointed by the board when we reconvene in August. (There is no July meeting.)

We also thank outgoing board members Maurice Cooper (President), Doug Berry (Treasurer) and Gene Brandzel for each serving two 3-year terms. They have given endless dedication and energy to the community over the years, but will remain engaged in community issues and MPCC projects different ways as time permits. Gentlemen, we are grateful for your service to the community.

Special thanks for Park Shore for providing the venue for this great community discussion.
